First Day: Blog 1

This was the people at the gallery working, they were designing an ad for Artforum magazine.
The front of the gallery, on Drury Lane.
A piece of art I enjoyed.

All the records of art, that's a lot!

What have you done to lessen the impact of the recession?

- Mark Quint has discounted prices, and cut expenses to reduce the impact of the recession.

Who do you market to, and how has the recession impacted that?

- He markets to clients he has had for twenty-eight years and advertises to collectors. He markets to national and international clients and contemporary art collectors.

Logistics:

I woke up at five, and went to get coffee before internship. Then walked to Mark's house at ten. We talked about my project/tasks and he gave me some books on Robert Irwin to read. We then went to Escondido, to the center for the arts. First we stopped at a reptile store to look at the pretty animals. We went to the museum and looked around, then packed up some things and took them to the car. We went out to sushi for lunch. Then we went back to his house, and I watched a video about Robert Irwin's work. We then went to the gallery and I took my pictures. By then it was four, and I went home. I feel prepared, and excited. I get along well with Mark and the people at the gallery, and I think internship will be very fun. I need to learn about Robert Irwin, but he is very interesting and I want to learn about him, it will be fun.

  1. Looks like you are making the most of your experience so far. I was wondering if you could elaborate on how he markets to customers.
