Blog 3: Project Ideas

The project I am working on right now is to design labels for a product. The product is a glass jar with a cork full of trinkets such as old jewelry and charms. They are mostly metal and stone, and are very very pretty. The label I was designing at first was just a regular stick on label, but then I though perhaps we could tie a label around the neck of the jar with string/ribbon, and then tie a charm on the ribbon. And since these are being sold in a store that also sells books, the label could be laminated and pretty so people could use it as a bookmark with a charm.

Here is an example, but this is a lot lower quality then it would be, but the picture wouldn't upload...

That is an idea for when I was still thinking about a stick-on label, I'm going to make the bookmark design tomorrow.

I need to develop my photoshop skills, because I have little to none experience with photoshop. I am very interested however, because I like the idea that certain things influence people to buy a product even if the product isn't any better because of it. I can try to come up with new and innovative idea because those are always needed in the art world, especially when trying to sell something that is pretty normal, but the packaging sells it.

  1. I think that the bookmark for the label is a great idea! A cool label definitely will make the product even better to sell, what do people use the trinkets for? Maybe you could focus the label around that or gift a project idea or something
